50 Years of Shrewsbury School Foundation

50th logo

In 2015 the Shrewsbury School Foundation will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary.  The Foundation was established by Trust Deed in 1965 making it the oldest independent school foundation in the country.

To mark this tremendous milestone the Foundation will host a number of very special events over the course of the next year. These will recognise the past achievements of the Foundation and look to the future. They will thank the hundreds of donors who contribute to Shrewsbury School's wellbeing each year and those who work tirelessly on its behalf.

The Foundation asks all our alumni and parents, past and present, to join us as we commemorate our anniverary.  We very much hope that you will join in and help us celebrate as we continue to work to secure bursary funding and support priority capital projects here at the Schools.

Telephone Campaign 2014

In July, the Foundation held a telephone campaign to update Old Salopians and parents on developments at the School and the activities of the Foundation, and to seek support for bursaries and other important projects.  Our team of 11 recent school leavers spoke to just over 700 Old Salopians and parents.

The campaign was very successful again this year and we are delighted to report that almost £180,000 was raised.  We hope that everyone who spoke to one of our young Salopians enjoyed talking with them about the School and we are very grateful to all those who made a donation.  If you did not receive a call but would like to support Shrewsbury with a gift, a donation form can be found here, or please contact us on 01743 280889.

The Friends of Shrewsbury School Dinner in Hong Kong

On October 21, 2013 The Friends of Shrewsbury School hosted a fabulous event at the Bankers Club in Hong Kong. Well over 100 parents, Old Salopians and Staff attended. The evening was enjoyed by all with speeches by Willie Cheng, Headmaster Mark Turner, and Governor and Foundation Chairman Peter Worth. The Friends of Shrewsbury School dinner has become a much anticipated annual event in Hong Kong.

Telephone Campaign update

We are delighted to report that this summer's telephone campaign was a great success.  We raised £150,000, with the majority supporting bursaries.

Thank you to everyone who spoke to one of our team of young Salopians and in particular those who made a donation to the school. Your support is very much appreciated.

Summer Telephone Campaign

Once again our team of young Salopians will be contacting Old Salopians and parents this summer. They will be providing updates on events at the school and in some cases seeking support for bursaries for those who couldn't otherwise to be educated at Shrewsbury, and for other important projects.

In past years, Shrewsbury's telephone campaigns have been very well supported, with those contacted enjoying the conversations they have, and with around £150,000 raised each time.  We look forward to talking to more Old Salopians and parents, and very much hope that this year will be equally successful.

Telephone Campaign update

The Foundation is pleased to report that this summer's telephone campaign was extremely successful.  Our team of recent leavers and VIth formers spoke with many Old Salopians and parents.

Over £150,000 was raised, with the majority of the donations being directed to bursary funding.  These gifts make a real difference to the experience of pupils at the school.

We would like to thank all those who took the time to speak with one of our young Salopians and in particular those who have made a gift to the school.  All those who have contributed will be invited to join our Annual Giving Societies.
